This little spot offers steady-Freddy food staples like the very good pressed Cuban sandwiches, and the basic black beans and rice. A different twist is the pressed ‘cheese bread’ that is great for sopping up the black bean soup. The strong Cuban-style coffee is sweetened in advance as is the norm, so if you don’t want the sugar, say so. Prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is tropical diner, with lots of palms, fish, and frog decor. Service is spotty, and very casual, but you can settle in and accept that you’ll be treated the way you treated your brother-in-law when he came down on vacation and camped in your spare room for two weeks, and just go with the flow. Have a little authentic Cuban/Florida, and smile your way through the tasty sandwiches.
