| The most striking thing about this area of southwest Polk County is the cabbage palm forest along the river's flood plain. Outside the river's flood plain are majestic oaks that offer a pleasant place for a picnic. Canoeing, fishing, hiking and picnicking are all enjoyable along the Alafia as it meanders through Polk and Hillsborough counties. Directions: From Mulberry, take S.R. 60 west to Turner Road (approx. 2.5. miles). Turn left onto Turner Road, follow until it splits into a Y. Stay to the left on North Turner Road. Turn left onto Indian Oak Boulevard. Turn right on Indian Oak Drive. The grass parking area is on the left.
