Central Florida’s tradition of spring training baseball goes back more than 100 years, when the Chicago Cubs held the first spring training in Tampa in 1913. Today, 15 Major League Baseball teams comprise Florida’s Grapefruit League, venturing to locations all across sunny Florida to compete.
Centrally located in the heart of the action is Lakeland, the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers. 2014 marks the Tigers 78th season at TigerTown in Lakeland, continuing the longest-standing relationship between a major league team and a current spring training host city. As a Class A Advanced affiliate of the Detroit Tigers since 1967, the Lakeland Flying Tigers provides an affordable and exciting event out for everyone. Low cost tickets, daily specials and promotions such as All You Can Eat and $1 Nights makes this the perfect option for baseball lovers as well as casual spectators.
