Press Release Detail
POLK OUTPOST 27 HAS BUSY FIRST WEEKEND
March 19, 2007
Saturday marked the grand opening with more than 1200 visitors stopping by to see the anticipated product. The first hundred visitors received tee shirts. Vendors provided hot dogs, wings, popcorn, snow cones and beverages. The Davenport School of the Arts Steel Drum Band entertained the guests during the afternoon. Sunday was another good day with nearly four hundred visitors to the center.
Visitors over the two-day period included tourists looking for information as well as local residents curious to see how Polk County was represented in the Visitor Center.
Designed to be an engaging visitor center, Polk Outpost 27 is equipped with a theatre featuring a high-definition video giving visitors a snap shot of the county and hopefully urging them to stay longer in the Central Florida area. In addition to the movie, a freshwater fish tank showcases some of the fish teeming in local waters and a putting green will let golfers practice their swing. Interior exhibits also display the natural beauty of the area including information on area parks and wildlife viewing areas, water and recreational sports, features on attractions, the arts community as well as dining establishments and the cattle and citrus history of the area.
Polk Outpost 27 is aimed to educate visitors on the tourism and cultural offerings in Polk County as well as make it a central stop to make lodging reservations, locate local dining options, and learn more about what makes the area unique.
