Water, Wings and Wild Things - Polk Naturefest 2009 is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, from 10 am to 2 pm. The FREE event will be held at Circle B Bar Reserve. Florida wildlife will be present featuring native Florida animals, including the endangered Florida Panther. Festival goers can also visit nature based vendors and kids can have hands-on experiences with kite making, butterflies and more! Enjoy music and wildlife art exhibits, watch fly fishing demonstrations and celebrate nature in Polk County. Special children's activities include kite and wind sock making, birdhouse building and coloring contests. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. More than 40 exhibitors will be on hand, providing fun opportunities to learn about the area's nature and conservation efforts, including planting with natives, prescribed burns, water conservation and litter prevention. Polk County's 554 lakes and protected natural lands offer tremendous opportunities to enjoy nature and the great outdoors. Come and visit the second annual Polk County nature festival event, which is a joint partnership of Polk County Government, Polk County's Cities, Environmental Organizations and Others.
